Sky Essential TV offers the basics on a budget
£15 a month gets you Sky Atlantic, Netflix and Discovery+
Sky has introduced Sky Essential TV, a new entry-level TV package designed for those who enjoy premium content without the hefty price tag.
The Sky Essential TV plan is the satellite and streaming specialist’s lowest-cost plan, costing just £15 a month.
That means you mark down the Ultimate TV Pack by £7, but you lose Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Showcase and Sky Witness.
However, Sky Atlantic, Netflix (with ads) and Discovery+ are all on board.
You won’t get 4K, ad skip, or any of the premium movie or sports channels, but you can always add them at any time.
The Sky Stream puck is also a pretty nifty streaming device, so if you already have Prime Video or Apple TV subscriptions then it’s a no-brainer as it’s all handled in one box.
The Sky Essential TV package includes over 100 channels, with programs such as Dragon House and The day of the jackal on Sky Atlantic (and soprano It is also repeated, at breakfast time!)
It’s Netflix standard, meaning HD, not UHD, and there are ads, but you’ll still get the full catalog with shows and movies like sen, One day and baby reindeer everything on offer.
Discovery+ isn’t just documentaries, there are also plenty of movies and shows, plus live sports.
Ben Case, CEO of Sky TV, said the package was created to bring Sky’s “world-class TV experience” to more people, emphasizing simplicity and value.
With this move, Sky appears to be targeting those who want premium TV at a lower price.
At £15 a month, it’s certainly a tempting deal for TV fans who want more than just free content.
You can sign up to Essential TV now directly with Sky.
