The new season of ‘Bad Monkey’ won’t follow the original sequel.
variety We have announced some good news regarding the upcoming second season of Bad Monkey.
Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to follow the path many viewers expected.

The first season was based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen. “Bad Monkey” has a sequel novel titled “Razor Girl,” but a person familiar with the production says Season 2 is not based on that book.
Season 2 could take a different route, as “Razor Girl” becomes the basis for future seasons. Series co-creator Bill Lawrence previously hinted that he had three seasons in mind for Bad Monkey.
Speaking of Lawrence, here’s what he had to say about being renewed for a second season:
“I want people to know that Carl Hiaasen is my idol and a source of inspiration for me as a writer,” Lawrence said. “It’s so exciting to continue to tell his story with Vince Vaughn and this incredible cast, at least with characters who are still alive. We are grateful to our partners at Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. for making this show possible. I am very grateful to the whole team.”
Bad Monkey’s first season debuted this summer and dominated Apple TV+’s top charts for most of its run.
For those unfamiliar, Bad Monkey is the third Apple TV+ series from Bill Lawrence, who also co-created Ted Lasso and Shrinking. In my opinion (and probably the opinion of many others), Lawrence is responsible for three of the best shows Apple has ever produced.
No release date has been announced for season 2, but we’re hoping Bad Monkey returns around August 2025, a year after the first season arrived.
