These new iOS features are coming to your iPhone in early 2025
Apple has released an incredible number of new iPhone features over the past few months, with major updates in iOS 18, iOS 18.1, and most recently iOS 18.2. But more is coming soon. Here are all the new iOS features we know are coming in the first four months of 2025.
Major Siri upgrade
Apple says Siri has entered a new era, but so far it’s been a bit of a pain. iOS 18.1 introduced a new Siri design and some minor enhancements, and iOS 18.2 added ChatGPT integration, but some of the biggest changes to date come with iOS 18.4 in April of this year. will be introduced.
Siri is getting three big upgrades:
- New app actions: According to Apple, Siri will be able to perform hundreds of new actions in Apple apps without having to open them. App Intents provides the same functionality for supported third-party apps.
- personal context knowledge: Just like a real-life assistant, you can see incoming texts, past calendar events, and other personal data to get truly intelligent assistance from Siri.
- On-screen recognition: Siri knows what’s on your display, so you can easily ask it to take action on what it sees.
These changes, combined with ChatGPT support, should give Siri with Apple Intelligence a truly powerful new user experience.
priority notification
Apple Intelligence brings big changes to how notifications work, and there’s more on the way. Priority notification will be provided soon.
Apple explains:
High-priority notifications appear at the top of the stack, so you know what to pay attention to at a glance. Notifications are also summarized so you can review them faster.
Based on Apple’s preview image, you can see some of your most important notifications at once, along with an overview of their priority. If this works well, it would be a great improvement to iPhone notification management.
New built-in emoji
Genmoji now allows you to freely create missing emojis. However, Apple will continue to add new built-in emojis to the iPhone emoji keyboard.
The next wave of emojis is planned for iOS 18.3 or 18.4 and will include features such as:
- face with dark circles under the eyes
- fingerprint
- tree without leaves
- root vegetables
- harp
- shovel
- scatter
The tired face is sure to attract a lot of attention when it arrives.
Image Playground Sketch Style
Apple has added a new app ‘Image Playground’ to the iPhone home screen in iOS 18.2.
AI tools allow you to create original images using text prompts or one of the many built-in tools.
Image Playground currently allows you to create images in two styles: animation and illustration. However, a third style, Sketch, will be added soon.
When a new style arrives, you can use it in new works as well as apply it to existing images in your library.
Home app robot vacuum cleaner
Apple is introducing a new device category to its Home app: robot vacuums.
Originally for iOS 18.2, we recently learned from the iOS 18.3 beta that Apple’s next software update will introduce long-awaited support for robot vacuums.
When iOS 18.3 is released in the next month or two, you’ll be able to use compatible robot vacuums to control your device directly from the Home app or Siri commands.
New Apple Intelligence languages
Finally, Apple announced that starting with iOS 18.4 in April, Apple Intelligence will support a variety of new languages.
Apple hasn’t revealed exactly which new languages will be coming in April, but it did share a list of languages coming in 2025.
