The Flic Duo is the latest smart controller from Shortcut Labs, following the great success of the Flic button range, which is a favorite here at The environment.
There were actually two generations of Flic buttons before the Flic Twist went live in late 2023.
The Flic Duo, which just had its official unveiling in Las Vegas at CES 2025, packs, as you might have guessed from the name, a pair of smart buttons in a single form factor.
But it’s not just about duplicating a normal Flic button. By detaching it from its magnetic holder, you can unlock a whole new world of possibilities.
Swipes, rotations and other gestures transform it into a complete remote control for your smart home.
Lights, music, blinds, whatever your setup, the Duo should have you covered, with up to 30 “commands” allowed.
Like the Twist, you will have to combine gestures and several touches and/or button presses to reach that number 30.
But you can keep things simple; For example, you can dim the lights when it’s on the wall, but control the music when it’s in your hand.
A new addition to the Flic mix is that you can locate it if you lose it; the Flic app may cause it to beep.
The Duo can function as a personal alarm and offers features such as fall detection and emergency escalation.
Flic Duo, which will initially launch for pre-orders on January 28, will begin shipping in the second quarter.
