CES 2025: a small smart surveillance camera was a big hit in Las Vegas

Bird Buddy, the Michigan-based brand behind the popular range of smart security cameras housed in bird boxes, used CES 2025 to show off its latest natural gadget: the Wonder Petal.

Wonder itself is actually a new brand for the company and Petal, along with Blocks natural foundation, are the first products in the range.

Wonder Petal is essentially a small biomorphic camera, designed to capture images of nature (think insects, small animals, and more) in flower beds and planted areas.

Wonder Petal comes in a variety of colors and is designed to be easy to match with your plants or flowers.

The 12-megapixel 4K camera attaches to a flexible stem, so you can point it at any angle you want, and there’s also a small solar panel, designed to mimic a leaf.

It comes with a universal clip so the idea is that you can hang it, mount it or place it directly on the ground.

You can also swap out different lenses for close-ups or wider angle shots.

We’re told it uses Nature Intelligence technology, which its creators describe as “an advanced layer of AI that interprets the sights and sounds of nature, from birds being born to the flapping of butterflies’ wings, a flower opens and the bees that pollinate it”.

No word on pricing yet, but we’re told Wonder Petal will hit Kickstarter in Spring 2025.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
