Made on the iPad: The symbolic mask design of the NHL goalkeeper is realized with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro.

This year, Timukook’s Nike Air Max 1’86 is not just “made of iPad”. The National Hockey League also rely on iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro to get creative design inspiration.

Since the 1970s, NHL’s goalkeeper has been using customized masks as an expression. This year, hockey creators masked the top goal tender in the league and used the power of the iPad to achieve the design.

The 2024/2025 NHL season begins, Apple and NHL, and National Hockey League Players Association introduces this unique creative collaboration between athletes, designers, and iPads.

This process starts long before the goalkeeper hits the ice for a new season.

“From the first day, the iPad was a game changer for me,” said the famous artist Travis Michael. “You can create a design, send it to the goalkeeper, get feedback, and edit it. It is raising the process very much.”

Behind the mask

New Jersey Devils Jacobumark Strom has created a mask inspired by the 1700s folklore, along with the artist, Jodemble Game. This design reflects the symbolic legends of New Jersey, embodies both the state history and his intense spirit of his team.

Boston Blue Ins’s Jeremy Swayman’s mask is designed by Dave Gunnersson and praise Boston’s revolutionary history by nodding Paul Libya, William Prescott, and Freedom Trail. Sweyman’s mention to Alaska adds a personal touch to the design and fuses his past and his current team.

Josephe -Wal of Torontomelle Refus was involved in a mask that was inspired by a meditation practice featuring a calm mountain landscape, including the Norwegian “troll tongue”, and cooperated with Gunnerson. The grand piano on the mountain represents his ice -like passion and focuses on calm and design.

Senator Linus Ullmark, a member of the Senator Linus Ullmark, is incorporated an initials inspired by a buffet for the logo of his family and former Senator Ottawa. Sam Montembeart’s Mask in Montreal Canadiens by Jordon BourgeaUlt pays respect to the Canadiens Legends Plante, Dryden, and Roy to commemorate the major team’s milestone.

Gunnarsson’s Edmonton Oilers’ Stuart Skinner’s Mask features Oil’s Orange Oil Splant, bear’s feet for his family, and his representative shoulder. Along with Travis Michael, Vancouver Canucks’s Sutcher Demko reconsidered the character of “Johnny CANUCK” as a zombie and nodded to BC’s Rocky Mountain and the childhood idol, Robertoruonggo.

The 2024 iPad Pro has M4 Apple Silicon CHIP, Apple’s first tandem OLED display, optional nano-texture anti-retrective glass, and thinner design. The Apple Pencil Pro contains a new squeeze, barrell and tactile feedback function. Photoshop and Procreate for iPad are available on the App Store.
