This is the Mac apps and utilities I couldn’t live without

Yesterday, my colleague Zac Hall shared the Mac app I currently use.

There are also major apps like Final Cut Pro, but there are plenty of utilities that I use regularly.

My important Mac app

Final Cut Pro

My colleagues Jeff Benjamin and Fernando Silva dash around 7 videos each morning before breakfast. My own video output is slow, er. Certainly not very It’s as slow as my YouTube feed suggests. Many of my videos are private and are produced solely to share with friends. But that’s something I really enjoy and I’ve made the decision from the start because at some point I want to upgrade from iMovie to Final Cut. – Off-cost.

Spark Mail

Spark

I try my Apple’s own email app every few years, but I mainly use third party apps based on a combination of multiple accounts and organizations that provide better aesthetics . (It always seemed strange to me that email didn’t seem to reflect the design skills we associate with Apple.) Over the past few years, it’s Spark. . I don’t care about AI subscription stuff.

Lightroom Classic

Lightroom

I’ve been using Lightroom for many years and when Adobe changes its UI to a very different subscription app, it still retains the original version as Lightroom Classic, even if it requires a subscription. I’ve checked. For me, it’s a very well thought out app, and its workflow reflects the order in which I normally do things, from editing to editing to output. I’ve created my own bunches of presets over the years, so editing is usually a very efficient process.

Photoshop

Photoshop

I use stock images slots for my work here, but I don’t want to mess with my photo library, so I’ll edit them using Photoshop. Most editing is easy so you can probably use a more basic editor, but Adobe’s subscription package means you can’t get Lightroom without Photoshop. : Uses one aspect ratio. This often requires generating additional content. I was very impressed with the results.

Scrivener

Scrivener

I haven’t written a book for quite some time, but when I do, I don’t use other apps. When I write novels, I have a planner and a punter. The latter is the person who writes in the trouser seat and makes it up to them as they go. I am definitely a planner and create a very detailed overview of the structure before writing any words. Scrivener’s card-based system is perfect for that, but it’s also very easy to refer to previous scenes during the writing process. Billion dollar robbery It was 145,000 words in 204 scenes (structured more like a film than a book).

Final draft

However, when it comes to scripting, the final draft is my favorite tool. I’m still very new to writing scripts, so it’s great to have an app that handles all formats for me. For example, simply select Dialog. This can be done with a single keypress and you’ll be asked for the character name. Avoid characters with the same name starting from the latter, autocomplete the name with a different single key, leaving the setup to enter the dialog.

Utilities

The link below is primarily for my review, so you can find out more.

Textsniper

in shopestore It is often necessary to quote from press releases and other source materials, but this may not be as easy as it looks. For example, patent documents have a strange format that makes them almost impossible to simply copy and paste, so don’t start a company that makes its announcements in the form of graphic images posted to X. You can copy text from photos, making it very quick and easy to use.

Moom

This is my preferred MacOS window management tool, allowing you to quickly switch between different windows and desktop layouts on both MacBook Pro and external monitors.

Phraseexpress

TextExpander without subscription. The UI is certainly clunky, but I don’t often interact with it. I literally use dozens of macros.

Hidden bar

Menubar manager similar to Bartender.

iPhone mirroring

I love this app. When I have a Mac before me, I want to do everything there, so having access to iPhone only apps on my Mac is really convenient.

nordvpn

I use a VPN whenever I access a potentially sensitive site on a public Wi-Fi network, including those used to access my files (like Dropbox). Nordvpn is also very useful to get around Geo-Blocks as it seems to be better than anyone else because it is ahead of this cat and mouse game.

What are your required Mac apps and utilities? Please share your comments.
