Susan Kare, creator of Mac icons, offers cute and expensive keycaps in silver and gold

Susan Carré is the artist best known for creating original Macintosh iconography that played such an important role in making computers friendly to non-technology users. Happy MacIntosh, Dogkow, and Error Bomb were one of her works.

She already offers a variety of prints and other artwork based on these pixelated memories, and is now added with similar style keycaps in silver and gold…

The keycaps are not Mac icons, they are all new low-resolution images in the same style. This includes two dogs, but no dog kows.

FastCo The idea reports that it comes from Alastair Walker, founder and creative director of Asprey Studio, the London art gallery where the late Queen bought the gift.

Walker says he thought his boyfriend was the perfect person to design the “Escape Key” idea. It is a meaningful symbol that expresses what people want to do from what they want to leave their keyboards, and the physical reminder of the joy of physical life. “Each of them has a hidden meaning,” Walker says. “And the whole idea is that they are literally on the keyboard and on the chest. Not a keyboard warrior is a reminder, so it’s kind of opposing itself.”

“It’s a bit ironic, but it resonated with me and I loved the idea,” says Carr. Walker first asked if he was interested in designing around ten icons on a mechanical keyboard with keyboard keys or universal attachments.

Keycaps are not suitable for Apple’s current keyboards as they are suitable for mechanical keyboards with interchangeable keycaps. They are also not cheap.

Each icon is a limited edition of 30-120 pieces, depending on the icon, and can be priced between $650 and $2,000 depending on the type of object. You can buy enamel silver computer keys at $650 or Gold Vermeil (19th – Century technique that applies a thick layer of silver to give you a durable finish that is five times thicker than gold plating) $ 1,010. The silver necklace pendant is $1,390 and the gold bar meal version is $2,020.

I have a MacBook Pro and the external keyboard is Apple’s magic keyboard, so it’s safe from temptation. If I had chosen from her site, I have to say it must be this absolutely beautiful hand-drawn woodblock print of MacPaint demographics.
