This new LumaFusion feature unlocks more creativity

At this point, I have been using Lumafusion personally for almost 7 years and have created over 1,000 videos on various iPads. As the first user of the iPad Pro, I loved the desktop-level experience that LumaFusion brings to the iPad. There’s everything most editors need. LumaFusion continues to evolve over time, adding features like multicam editing, external SSD support, speed ramping, keyframes and more. But with the new V5.2 update for LumaFusion, they bring one feature I really wanted!

what’s new?

This new 5.2 update offers some new quality of life completely free of charge, including:

  • Importing SVG shapes
  • Quick Zoom Migration
  • Various new preset shapes

Use these new updates straight away, especially for quick zoom transitions. However, the new update has two flagship features.

  • 12 track audio and video support: This new feature allows LumaFusion users to create elaborate stories with 12 tracks of video and 12 tracks of audio.
  • Adjustment clip: Easily change multiple clips in the timeline at once, adjust color and add filters, and change the position/size/scale and crop of all layers under the adjustment clips in the timeline. Multiple adjustment clips can be layered to layer keyframes to design animations and effects, allowing users to maximize the benefits of using 12 tracks.

These two are big updates for me. Prior to this update, LumaFusion was limited to having six video and audio tracks. 90% of the time was fine in my use case, but sometimes I wanted to have one or two more video tracks to add a layer of text and animation. This has been completely fixed with this new 12-track feature. Second, the adjustment clip feature becomes an efficiency and time-saving game changer. I was able to always copy edits from clip to clip, but this allows me to copy edits from three clips (for example) and then paste them into another three clips. Previously, you had to copy and paste each section individually. Again, this is a big deal for us who use Lumuff John Ion every day.

Pricing and availability

One of my favorites at Lumatouch is that they generally offer one-off purchases for everything. For example, LumaFusion is available for $29.99 as a one-time purchase on any platform. So, you don’t need to deal with subscriptions if you don’t want them, but they offer those extensions their subscriptions for those who prefer it.

As mentioned earlier, these first few features are free for LumaFusion users who just need to update. However, if you want new 12-track support and adjustment clips, it’s either a one-time payment of $19.99 or included in your monthly Creator Pass subscription.

These new features are available today through an update to the App Store.

Creator Pass

Creator Pass is a relatively new addition to LumaFusion. Like I said, LumaFusion always offers one-time in-app purchases for key features such as:

  • Multicam
  • FCPXML Export
  • Extended keyframes
  • Speed ramping

Typically, a one-time purchase costs $19.9. But they currently have a Creator Pass, which is $9.99 per month, offering all of these features as well as new features such as the 12-track feature. The Creator Path also includes Story Blocks Integration, allowing you to directly access royalty-free music downloads and video and sound effects directly from your LumaFusion library. So that’s not a bad thing.

Final thoughts

These new features continue to solidify LumaFusion as one of the best, if not the best, mobile editors on the iPad. All YouTube videos created for the channel are done on LumaFusion. What’s surprising is that it’s for beginners who have never edited before, and also for very experienced video editors who do this for the profession. My only feature request is to create a compatible camera app for iPhone that allows LumaFusion to become a viewfinder! Maybe someday!

Finally, the beauty of LumaFusion is that it works on all iPados. So whether you have a $279 iPad 10th generation or have a fully loaded $2000+M4 iPad Pro, LumaFusion will continue to run!

What do you think? Are you using a mobile editor? Are you in the world of video editing? Which apps or software are you using? Let me explain it below.
