Last year, Apple introduced its own AI toolset, Apple Intelligence. All of this is handled by the device, so Apple Intelligence requires the latest hardware, such as the iPhone 15 Pro or later. Still, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple Intelligence requirements didn’t help Apple promote iPhone sales.

Users who are not sure they will buy a new iPhone for Apple Intelligence

In a note on his blog, Kuo said Apple’s efforts to promote Apple’s Apple Intelligence have not led to an increase in iPhone sales. According to his sources in the supply chain, most iPhone owners seem uninterested in purchasing new models for AI features. Last month’s Sellcell survey revealed that most users have little value in Apple Intelligence so far.

Analysts say that after Apple announced Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024, it failed to maintain its “first topic.” Kuo believes that other AI platforms, such as Openai’s ChatGPT, are profitable from being cloud-based, but Apple Intelligence relies entirely on hardware processing.

“Apple’s efforts to promote Device On-Device AI face multiple structural challenges. For example, despite the first talk after Apple Intelligence’s debut at WWDC 2024, its appeal has been significantly reduced compared to cloud-based AI services. Analysts added, “There is no evidence of Apple Intelligence’s ability to benefit the hardware exchange cycle.”

Apple is gradually deploying Apple Intelligence features. First, the company introduced writing tools and summaries using iOS 18.1. Later, with iOS 18.2, Apple introduced Genmoji, Image Playgrounds and ChatGpt integrations. More advanced Siri with on-screen recognition is not yet scheduled for April.

Another aspect that certainly affects your interest in Apple Intelligence is its availability. This is not only because hardware requirements, but Apple’s AI features have previously only been available in English. The company says it will introduce support for more languages later this year.

Still, Apple uses Apple Intelligence to promote modern hardware. Most ads on iPhone 16 and M4 Macs highlight features such as Genmoji and text summaries.
