This is a replay of rumors and a weekly column shopestore We provide a quick summary of the latest Apple product rumors, with analysis and commentary. Today: iOS 19 screenshot, Apple Watch has acquired cameras, iPhone 17s are comparing side-by-side. Here are the rumors about apples this week.

Early glimpse into the new designs of iOS 19

We already knew that iOS 19 was undergoing major design changes, but this week, John Prosser revealed that he’ll get some early glimpses of what’s in stock. First, Prosser shared what was called a “screenshot” of the new messaging app in iOS 19. Next, we’re diving deep into the system-wide design changes.

Some useful additional context: Markgerman says such images “does not represent what you see in WWDC,” and “main features are missing based on very old builds or vague descriptions.”

My takeaway

I believe that some aspects of what Prosser has shown will advance to iOS 19. However, even without the input of Gurman, you would have been surprised if these early appearances reflected the finished product. Partly because new designs are likely to be constantly adjusted during development, and because leaks like this make it difficult to get a full picture of Apple’s plans.

That said, certain design features like deeper and more appropriate buttons seem to be increasingly certain to make Apple’s big new update.

The camera is on the Apple Watch

Mark Garman reported that Apple plans to add a camera to its Apple Watch, but perhaps not in a few more generations.

The idea is that a watch-equipped camera can provide AI capabilities to devices we already wear. Therefore, Watchos gains some form of visual intelligence.

Garman has previously said that camera-equipped airpods have also arrived.

My takeaway

Adding a camera to your Apple Watch makes sense. They are probably suited to airpods simply from a physical positioning standpoint. However, AirPods are not worn at all moments of the day. Apple Watch does that.

Gurman says the cameras are in work on both the Apple Watch Ultra and Standard “series” models. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the first watch camera debuted in Ultra. The Apple Watch Ultra offers more space for new components, and its premium price helps to absorb the cost of the camera.

iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro-by-Side

Posted this week on X, Leaker Majin BU shares the above image comparing the thickness of the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro.

Based on the rumored dimensions, Bu’s dummy model offers the best look on how the 17 Air’s thinness is a big selling point.

My takeaway

This image confirms to me that Apple is set up to please the two very different crowds with 17 Air Models and Pro models.

  • The iPhone 17 Air is attractive to those looking for a new, sophisticated and futuristic model.
  • The 17 Pro tilts violently in the opposite direction, boasting more batteries and a powerful camera array

If you’ve always wanted It’s most possible That’s what the iPhone and 17 Pro do. But if the light is thin and attractive, 17 air is the device for you.
