Made on an Indian iPhone

While a huge majority of iPhones in the world are made in China, Apple has been working to establish India, the second largest manufacturing hub for many years.

Apple has gradually increased production from the iPhone SE alone to the latest flagship mobile phones. It has previously been reported that Apple has set a target of manufacturing 25% of iPhones in India by 2027.

The Indian government is encouraging this ramp-up through a series of tax cuts on import components known as the Indian initiative, but the Chinese government has been accused of intentionally thwarting these plans.

FOXCONN doubles iPhone production in India

India’s The Economy Era Foxconn responds to requests from Apple, reports that it will dramatically increase production of iPhones in the country, and that it will do so by building a new factory in Bengaluru.

Foxconn aims to fire between 205 million and 330 million iPhones on Indian plants this year, with more than twice the number they created last year (…) saying people know about the development.

“Last year, the company collected around 12 million iPhones in India,” one person said. “However, their Bengaluru facilities are also coming in very soon, so they set their ambitions much higher in line with Apple’s push to deepen their presence in India.”

The assembler reportedly began limited testing three or four months ago, and is currently focused on ensuring that it maintains quality standards when the plant is operating at a large scale.

Analysts say the numbers are in line with their own estimates and believe the Cupertino Company is on track to achieve its 25% target for iPhone production in India by next year.
