Jason Momoa now streaming new AppleTV+ Epic series
If you’re looking for something new this weekend, there are some great candidates. The first two episodes of Apple TV+’s most ambitious projects to date are now available.
“The War Chief” features a cast from Jason Momoa and almost All Polynesian
Last night, hours before the premiere date on August 1, Apple released two first episodes of a new action epic series starring Hawaiian actor Jason Momoa (Aquaman, See).
Here’s a spoilerless pitch for Apple’s war chief:
“Performed by a largely Polynesian cast led by Jason Momoa, “The War Chief” follows an epic and unprecedented narrative of Hawaii’s unity and colonization at the turn of the 18th century. The ensemble cast includes owners of Lucian Buchanan, Temera Morrison and Te Ao O O O McCar McCar. Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, and Te Kohe Tuhaka. ”
Apple has been leaning heavily towards the cultural aspects of war chiefs over the past few days, posting messages written in English and Hawaiian, counting down to the premiere.
The series first made headlines in April 2022, when Momoa joined as an actor, writer and executive producer. Soon after that, Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett’s book) joined the cast, adding to his expectations.
Following today’s premiere, the show will run until September 19th, with the episode premiering every Friday.
