Report: Risky iPhone sales, but Apple’s first folding will change it in 2026

It is rumoured that Apple is working on a new folding device, the first for the Cupertino-based company. A new report by GF Securities analyst Jeff PU not only supports Apple’s first folding launch in 2026, but also suggests it will help recover from the 2025 fall in iPhone sales.

This may mean that after promoting the iPhone 16 as the first iPhone to build the Apple 16 for Apple Intelligence, there may be no reason to upgrade your phone this year, so some customers may see why they would upgrade their phones anymore, but ultimately they didn’t provide functionality on time.

But what can save a company from the low demand for IPHONE? According to analysts, Apple’s first foldable device plays a key role in this. Reports from other analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo say the market will “recover in 2026” regardless of the capabilities of Apple Intelligence, driven primarily by Apple’s two foldable devices.

Analysts say that they are working with suppliers on the design and development of Apple’s new products, so that at least one of Apple’s new folding products is intended to take part in mass production in the second half of 2026 (a process known as NPI). According to PU, the foldable “on-track” is “on-track” to enter the “P1” stage next month. For those who are unfamiliar, this is the early stages of Apple’s prototyping.

Earlier this month, Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the first foldable iPhone to be released in 2026 could cost over $2,000. The device will also be sold as a premium version of the iPhone, with a 7.8-inch main screen and a 5.5-inch external display. When deployed, the device will look like an iPad mini.

Apple is also working on a foldable device with an 18-inch screen, which could potentially be a new Mac or iPad. The company aims to create foldable devices with invisible creases.
