What do I need to fast charge my Apple Watch?

Apple Watch comes with an Apple USB-C magnetic fast charging cable. As we previously reported, what makes this cable different is that it has aluminum instead of plastic around the magnetic charger.

Apple includes one of these cables with the Apple Watch Series 7 and Apple Watch Ultra, but you can also purchase them separately to equip all your charging spots with fast charging support. The cable is 1 meter long and costs $29. The model number for the cable is A2515, so if you’re buying from a third party other than Apple or Amazon, make sure you’re buying that specific model.

The second part of the equation is the power adapter that plugs into the wall. As part of our continued focus on reducing our environmental footprint, Apple no longer ships with this power brick. That means you’ll have to use what you already have or buy a new one.

According to Apple, any USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery of 5W or higher can fast charge the Apple Watch. These are available on Amazon from reputable brands like Anker for under $20.

Finally, if you’re using Apple’s now discontinued MagSafe Duo or Apple Watch magnetic charging dock, you won’t be able to take advantage of the fast charging feature, regardless of the cable or power adapter you use. However, you can place the fast charger pack in any kind of third-party dock.
