Report: Apple designs all-new Magic Mouse, fixes charging port placement
According to the latest edition of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is working on a completely redesigned Magic Mouse that focuses on key criticisms of its existing products.
Apple just technically updated the Magic Mouse with a USB-C port, so it may be a while before we see it. Garman said Apple is “aiming to come up with something more relevant for the modern era.”
Customers have long criticized the Magic Mouse’s ergonomics as becoming uncomfortable after extended use. Additionally, its design leaves no space for a charging port on the front, forcing users to flip the mouse over to connect it.
This naturally means that you can’t use the mouse while it’s charging. However, Apple may find a solution to this problem soon. According to bloombergApple “wants to develop something more relevant while resolving long-standing complaints.”
There aren’t many other details in the report, but we imagine something a little more similar to the Logitech MX Master if possible.
In terms of timeline, this product won’t be available for another 12-18 months. That means it will be rolled out sometime in 2026, potentially around the time of the new redesigned MacBook Pro with OLED.
