A quick guide to keep your intelligent home Alexa organized and well managed

Smart house technology linked to its Amazon Alexa application can become a bit messy and, as a result, it is possible that your smart home with Echo is encouraged to fall apart a bit.

With Alexa pulling multiple devices and scenes of a multitude of applications and skills, often using room names and devices that are exactly the same, it is very easy to confuse their digital assistant and create problems for their smart command commands at home.

If you are sick and tired of listening to Alexa say: “Some things share that name, which one you wanted?”, Or “please try to use the ‘percentage’ for brightness or ‘degrees’ for temperature” After giving a basic Smart Home Voice command, this is the guide for you: it is very simple to eliminate Alexa devices.

Keep reading to find out how to overcome the duplicate problems of name and device and how to disable, eliminate or eliminate Smart Home devices from your home Alexa Smart.

We also have a separate feature on how to eliminate and control Alexa’s story if you want to read more about that.

What you will need

  • Your smartphone or tablet
  • Alexa application
  • A list of the devices you want to delete

The short version

  • Open the Alexa application On your smartphone or tablet.
  • Touch the Tab ‘devices’ In the lower center of your screen.
  • Touch the device you want to eliminate.
  • Touch the Settings tooth.
  • For Amazon devices, move down to ‘Registered in‘And touch Deregulate.
  • For third -party devices, touch the trash can In the upper right corner.

How to delete devices from the Alexa application

The first thing to do if you have problems with Alexa is to have a bit of devices (and scenes) that the Amazon digital assistant has built. It is possible that you find old devices that persist in the list of an ancient ability that you used in the past and, often, simply erase this list will be deleted from some command confusion.

Through the Alexa application, it is actually a task that requires a lot of time to eliminate devices, even if it is easy. Nor can he eliminate bulk elimination devices, and although he used to be able to do this in Alexa’s web application, that is no longer possible, unfortunately.

Even so, we have covered the steps to delete the devices of the Alexa application in detail below to help you clean the Alexa application and that your intelligent assistant works as it should. It is worth noting that if you are eliminating a Amazon device, such as a pop echo or an echo point, there is a slightly different process than to eliminate a third -party device, but we have covered both below.

Eliminate Alexa devices from Alexa’s web application

As we mentioned briefly, there used to be a faster way if I wanted to eliminate many devices at once using Alexa’s web interface on its PC or Mac, in Alexa.amazon.com.

Unfortunately, Amazon eliminated this option with that link that is now for the predetermined value of making you scan a QR code to open the mobile application, instead of offering control through the desktop.

How to disable smart starting devices for Alexa

There are times when you do not necessarily want to eliminate the devices from its Alexa configuration, but to prevent your digital assistant from trying to control them.

For these occasions, it is very simple to simply disable an intelligent domestic device from the Alexa application. Only use the same method described above, but in Step 3 Simply alternate the ‘enable’ Configure to turn off, instead of clicking on the garbage can.

When you do this, the device remains on its connected technology list, at the bottom with a ‘disabled’ below. You can enable them again at any time.

This is particularly important when its Alexa system is attracting multi -skills devices. For example, a tone light can be combined with Alexa through the native hue ability, but also through something like smartthings.

If you eliminate the Smartthings version, for example, you will see it disappear for a while, but then you will reappear when you then discover devices.

The trick is to identify the source of a device, you can see where it is to take advantage of it, and disable it, instead of eliminating it. The disabled devices are listed at the bottom of their list, out of damage from their main ‘active’ devices list.

How to organize smart home devices to avoid voice command problems

Alexa does not know exactly what device you want to control when she pronounces a specific command.

For example, I could ask that the lights are listed in the kitchen, but Alexa replies: “Some things share that name, which one you wanted?”, Because you not only have cooking lights, but also intelligent heating, smart speakers or more.

There are some things that you can do here to facilitate your intelligent life. First, eliminating or disabling problematic devices using the methods described above. The latter is especially useful for things like Philips Hue, where not only individual smart bulbs are imported when linking your account through the tone skill, but also the configuration of the room.

Within the Alexa application, what you should do is make sure things have unique names. Make sure things are labeled ‘light’, ‘heating’, etc.

Of course, the words like ‘light’ are used natively by Alexa, whether it labeling their smart bulbs with the word or not, but it helps if you have problems with devices with similar name in conflict.

To change the name of a device, open the Alexa application and press ‘devices’ from the lower panel.

Find the device to which you want to give a new name and touch it, then touch the COG ‘configuration’.

Click ‘Edit Name’ and write the name you want to use.

Touch the rear arrow and will be finished.

Playe with words and labels that feel natural and try some voice commands to make sure everything is working as it should.
