Netflix works on a very different scale than Apple TV+, making it difficult to compare in terms of content popularity.
However, one important highlight of the latest Netflix Viewership report can help explain the recent Apple TV+ trends.

It’s a really big chunk of big Netflix viewership ship pie.
Furthermore, not three of Netflix’s 10 most-watched shows during this period were in English. This is headlined by Squid Game Season 2.
Netflix has long invested in content outside of English as it seeks to grow its global audience. That strategy really seems to be rewarding.
Meanwhile, Apple TV+ is a much smaller player at the moment, but has recently been increasing the number of non-English projects.

These shows received many critical acclaim. However, they remained a rare outlier among slates of mainly English content.
However, in the past few months, non-English output has increased significantly.

Netflix’s success helps explain why.
While US growth remains Apple’s top priority, the company is moving on TV+ and has set it on the path to true global success.
