bloomberg suggests that the 2025 iPad Air will launch early this year, which would be sooner than expected. We hinted at the time that it would probably be powered by an M3 chip rather than an M4, and now leakers seem to confirm that.

Today’s report doesn’t mention any dates, but the redacted document mentions the iPad Air 13 (M3) and iPad Air 11 (M3)…

2025 iPad Air

iPad Air is typically only upgraded every 18 months to 2 years; bloomberg Last October, we reported that it would be updated “early next year” (that is, this year).

The company is nearing production of a new entry-level model, the latest iPhone SE (codenamed V59), according to people familiar with the matter. Apple also aims to manufacture and release new iPad Air models and keyboards around the same time.

We noted at the time that Gurman didn’t say anything about the chipset, which he expected to be updated, but only to the M3, not the M4.

Apple will probably implement the M3 chip in the next iPad Air. We initially thought Apple was moving away from the first-generation 3nm process as soon as possible due to high costs and low yields, but Apple has since put the A17 Pro chip into the iPad mini. did. The iPad Air was always a year behind in terms of chips, so the iPad Air’s M3 is likely to be upgraded.

M3 chip leaking

Evan Blass aka @evleaks’ X account is private, but he teased documents containing references.

  • iPad Air13(M3)
    Apple-iPad-Air-13-(m3)
  • iPad Air 11(M3)
    Apple-iPad-Air-11-(m3)

This only reflects our own expectations, but it lends weight to the idea that launch is near.

This screenshot also references a new version of the base model 11-inch iPad.

Other possible improvements

According to a report by Mark Gurman, we can expect a new Magic Keyboard exclusively for the iPad Air, replacing the one originally introduced for the 2020 iPad Pro. It adds a new row of function keys and is expected to match current versions of other iPad keyboards.

It has also been suggested that a 90Hz display could be introduced, but this is not confirmed.

Other possibilities include a brighter display and Wi-Fi 7 support.
