Apple TV+ is more than five years old, and in addition to its viral Ted Lasso moment, streamers have struggled to gain mainstream traction until recently. One of the producers who played the show for Apple thinks he knows why.

Apple’s marketing is “Best for iPhone and the worst on TV”

Rafa Sales Loss Variety I recently interviewed Alex Berger, the television producer who created La Maison for Apple TV+. That partnership is clearly not something he intends to repeat.

“Marketing will do the show,” he emphasized. “For example, Apple is probably the worst marketer in the universe. It’s the best for iPhone, the worst for TV. They’re not marketing, it was a problem with ‘La Maison’. We did some amazing shows with amazing success in France and elsewhere in Europe, but they didn’t promote it. ”

While he believed Apple TV+ lacked its marketing efforts, when asked why he decided to take “La Maison” to the streamer, Berger simply said: “Hope. We had hope.”

“Apple TV+ never did a show in France, never actually did a show in Europe,” the producer adds. “The ‘throw horse’ started in the UK (things) but it was the same as in the US. I wanted to change them. We were very annoyed and thought at some point they were shooting themselves with their feet.

Burger said, “These are indicative of not being able to see most of the time, which is a shame.”

Some of Berger’s words are hyperbolic, but I have total sympathy for his views.

Before retiring this year and finding success in viral marketing, Apple TV+ Marketing proved to be a very disappointing thing. In particular, consider Apple’s strong track record of promoting hardware products.

La Maison faced the additional challenge of being a French series. As a result, there has already been a difficult fight, and Apple’s marketing struggle has become even more problematic.
