Roku uploads his game at a smart home with a new security camera duo
Roku’s intelligent domestic ambitions became a little more serious, with the transmission specialist by removing the covers of a duo of new security cameras with batteries.
The Roku battery camera and the Roku Plus battery camera are not exactly innovative, the interesting thing is that these seem to be the first Roku brand cameras designed completely internally.
Until now, Roku’s intelligent domestic team (like his internal security camera) was basically a Wyze Rebadged hardware.
Both new cameras are wireless, climate resistant and built to be super simple to install. The standard model is expected to run up to six months with a single load, while the Plus version could last up to two years.
There is also an optional solar panel accessory, which could eliminate the need to recharge manually.
As for the specifications, they are more or less what you would expect from an intelligent medium range security chamber (and expect, affordable): full color of 1080p, night vision of color, movement detection and alerts.
You will need a subscription if you want cloud storage or smarter movement notifications, and there is no option for local storage.
Naturally, Roku has baked a deep integration into his televisions and transmission devices. You can monitor your cameras directly on your TV, whether on full screen or using an image image view while your last program is trapped.
The configuration is handled through the Roku Smart Home application, with a guided tutorial designed to maintain the idiots proof process.
The details of the prices are still secret, but the new cameras, and the accessory of the solar panel, are ready to land in the coming months.
It is a clear removal of being “only” a transmission brand, and a clue that Roku wants to have more of the connected house … Not only the TV on his wall.
